Default Convert a Beveled Oval to a Beveled Octagon

    Hi Everybody,

I have two basic shapes that I use for a series of buttons.
    Name: OvalShape.jpg
Views: 221
Size: 1.1 KB
I like the gray-bevel because it defines the outline of the shape so well.
However, if I apply the same bevel standards to a polygon, I cannot define the outline as well.
The best I get is this.
    Name: polygon.jpg

Size: 1.1 KB

Can someone help me with this?
    Many Thanks,

Paul, if you instead switch to an outer Contour, one Step, you have greater control than a Bevel that is using a light source.

The other approach is to Clone, lighten and put behind and grow by about 105%, but you then have to adjust the shape further.

    Thank you, Acorn and handrawn,

I get lost in the "contour" expression. The ".pdf" guide doesn't explore that term.

Is "Outer Contour" and "Outer Bevel" the same?
And a bevel that uses a light source ... is that light source something I can manipulate?

Sorry guys, I don't understand your suggestions.

    Thanks

Paul, apologies, you and other owners of Xara Web Designer Premium are stuffed as MagiXara have not included the Contour Tool.

    Try this instead:
    • Give any Shape a Glow Shadow.
    • Remove the Blur.
    • Set its Transparency to 0%.
    • Drag out a Shadow Size.
    • Drag a Colour from the Colour Bar onto the Shadow.

If your Copy the Shape and select any other and press Shift+Ctrl+A, you apply the same Shadow effect to this shape.

    For Bevel manipulation:
    >>> Select Bevel and there is a drop-down for the Light Elevation and Angle. <<<

handrawn, it's not a quiz just Magix turning it into one: https://www.xara.com/uk/designer-pro/compare/

Go figure the logic for Magix cutting out "Illustration" features from XWDP where any designer can see how useful they are in web work.
Mind you, Magix still sells version 11 of Page & Layout Designer.

it's marketing - they pull in punters at the low level who then have to re-buy to get the additional features

    HOT DOG!
Using a Glow-Shadow did the trick, fooled around with the "glow" for a while and arrived at exactly what I was looking for.
    Thank guys
