Default Xara Designer Pro+ Update (21.8)

Here’s a second update for Xara Designer Pro+ within the last month. v21.8 offers automatic self-hosting of Google Fonts, in response to the latest GDPR developments in Europe. As well as offering instant compliance with GDPR rules, you’ll hopefully see some performance improvements too.

You can find a short summary of what's new in every release on the Xara site and there's full info in our Designer Pro+ Release Notes.

If you have a current Pro+ or Team+ subscription with Xara then the update will download to Designer Pro+ automatically.

We hope you like the update, feedback is always welcome.

Kate, can you help - what's the situation with XD and XDP+?

It looks like you're forking away from Magix and there's two products now - and I want not only the best one, but the one that supports Xara and not Magix - never been happy with that, cheapens and despecialises the product in my opinion.

Besides, support is bobbins and they are making an arse of the update proccedure of late.

So, can if you be candid - what is what here...are you trying to undo a mistake I wonder?

Was looking forward to an answer on this question, as well.

Whilst I can't answer for Kate - I took the gamble and switched to Xara Pro + nearly 2 years ago... and have been enjoying the new features in the desktop version of Xara + some of the online webinars have been good too.

In short - nice dealing with Xara directly again.

They seem to have regained their focused once more, on moving things forwards (Xara's web tech is interesting, but hasn't replaced the desktop client for my work streams). Thankfully, they've placed renewed focus on bringing new features to the desktop version of Xara too and the frequent release cycle has been a very refreshing and welcome benefit.

Whilst I'd agree with that in general I'd also have to comment on the loss of interaction between Xara & Talkgraphics. Since the departure of Robert Turner (Rob-Xar) TG has become a desert devoid of any input from Xara. TG is by far Xara's best support system but is almost totally ignored by Xara.

I agree with Egg. Rob Turner was very good at handling some of the tougher questions.

That said, I am not sure when the last time was when someone from Magix popped in.

I switched to Pro+ a few years ago even though I did not need any of the cloud based features. Xara has been making updates and adding new features on a pretty regular basis. This one with self-hosted fonts is a very good example. The only reason I still have Pro X on my computer if for the FX feature when Pro+ has not upgraded and most of the filters and effects are missing.
