    Mike,

    A follow-on thought to avoid two separate clicks to access site navigation: use standard links on the index page (non-sticky) and use on-page up-arrows (non-sticky) to link back to the index page. I re-tested this approach with the example I provided yesterday, seems to work well on my phone (normal text size font 23px with a page width of 640px - StfW 640px)
