Default Coreldraw and problem converting an image into DXF

Hello, as a Xara user I'm quite new to Coreldraw and started using it for my new lasercutter. I managed a few times to successfully convert an image into a good DXF file, but with this one and many hours later it just doesn't work. Also don't understand why it freezes my pc, which never happens.

With this image I like to create little wooden clothing tags, the black part engraved and an outline to cut. With the DXF files I created so far the engraving part stays invisible for my laser software and I really can't figure out why. The comnversion doesn't work.

Any help is appreciated.Click image for larger version.

I don't think there are too many Corel Draw users left here. You might do better with the Corel Draw Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/coreldrawgraphicssuite

That said, looking at your image, I see lots of rough edges. I wonder if you would have better luck if you used Corel's drawing tools to recreate the image as simple shapes.

I did a trace in Vector Graphics, though Corel has a pretty good trace too, which might also be a way to go. The image in the PDF is vector and you can edit this if you want to simplify the design's outline.

that is not a good image to trace, far too loose and dirty to trace cleanly enough, this may well be the reason for your issue, as gary has mentioned

Yes, I agree it's far to dirty.

Here's a cleaner version, how does this one work?

Egg - The member is using CorelDRAW which I don't think can open a XAR file. Can you export this as PDF?

His opening statement says "as a Xara user I'm quite new to Coreldraw", so he probably can open a XAR.

Yes, I believe he's saving as .dxf from Xara.

Often, one of the XAR to CMX export options open fine in CD. I believe it is the older of the two export filters.

    Thanks Keith, I missed that.

Egg, that's a great job. My point in posting the scan was it would save some trouble tracing everything by hand. The vector image can still be simplified.

    Heello there,

    Oh thank you very much!

Nice, I'am going to play with that.

Will update later. Thanks for all feedback.
