    Default another poster

again, tried to create an Art Deco type poster/advertisement. very stylized ship, fictional cruise line. Curious what you think of this as an ad or poster and if the font I chose works.
    thanks for any feedback. tim

Really a handsome poster and the text works very well.

The upper decks don't seem right. Too wide I think. Here's a link to images of the Titanic and I think you will see what I mean.

Thanks Gary, I see what you mean, I struggled with that part, some times it just takes another set of eyes.

I like the overall look of the poster and the style of text. However, if this was made into a poster you would need to adjust the tracking of the text. At a distance that a poster would be viewed at, the letters all run together making it hard to read.

    Very good, indeed.
I did a similar sort of drawing, some years ago.
Had great fun, trying to get the shading right!

    very good tim

if it were me I would leave the decks the way they are, because they are a bold statement and totally in style; pull them in and the top will start to look weak and, as you look upwards along the hull, the switch to the decks as the hull curves out will be too abrupt

if you fancy doing a cargo ship next here is the one from the triplets of belleville aka belleville rendezvous - completley different set of curves and balance but still art deco

Love these images of ships. The look is achieved by taking paintings or photos from the waterline giving the tall thin perspective, which works well in Tims poster and even better (with artistic licence in HD's) link. The technique was used to great effect in railway posters advertising their continental ferries in the early 1900's as in the link below:
