Plus there are some specific to Xara shortcuts

    Ctrl + Alt + C for © (or Alt + 0169)
    Ctrl + Alt + - for — em dash (or Alt + 0151)
    There are several others.

And if all else fails, Character Map then find the right alt character and copy and paste.

No, use the apostrophe (below the double quote).

The Ü comes out as lower case which, in my usage, would be perfectly fine.
Did you press the Shift-key before pressing the U key?

    The apostrophe...now it works.

Did I hold Shift...of course not because that would make sense, and I'm far too dim for sense.

I use the attached, have been for years.
Of course it requires a keypad.
No problem for me as I have always used a desktop computer.
    Hope it helps someone.

    That's a great chart Joelle!

I am not sure if Android phones do this, and this is totally not related to Xara, but, with my iPhone, if I hold down a key, such as the N a menu pops up with available accent marks. I suppose I could key in the word with accents, then email it to myself, then copy and paste into Xara.

    Thanks Gary ☺

Good ol' iPhone/iPads, I love the way it remembers what one has done before. When I type my name it appears with the tréma - just click to add to the message.

For my computer I have printed the chart and it lives in an old plastic CD box next to my monitor ☺

Hold key in Ca then hold down the Ctrl key and press the Shift + the Tilde character (next to the 1 on the standard keyboard) and you get Cañon.
On my keypad the tilde is just above the # (hash/pound symbol) but it works as explained by Gary.
