    Default My First Car

This was a quick doodle of my first car, a 39 Ford Tudor. I bought it when I was 15, did the bodywork in lead, borrowed a sprayer and painted it grey primer. A lot of memories in that car.

Love it. Amazing how cars have changed out of all recoginition over those years.

My first car was an Austin 16, pictured below (but not mine).

For a brief minute I considered drawing it but the reflections on the clouds on the wings very quickly decided me to stay well clear!

Love how you captured the dull gray primer but perked it up with the fabulous chrome.

Thanks Egg, Gary. Classy looking car you had, Egg.
I'm reposting image. I used too dark of a background and it hid the interior.

I do not have a photo of it but the first car I remember buying was a 1951 ford coupe it was bluish the reverse gear went out, and the seats broke so when I took off the seat would tip way back if I had to park in order to get out of the parking place I either had to get out and push or put it in drive and bounce off the curb, previously my dad gave us a 1949 Chevy which I mostly drove even though I myself didn't buy it I suppose the '49 Chevy was my first car.

That's a great drawing. I like the wheels.

Whatever happened to running boards? Here a pic of my first car (not my actual car) 1970 VW Beetle (Savannah Beige).

Cool car, Larry. I owned several of those Ford shoe boxes. I owned a 49 Chev powered coupe, 50 tudor, 51 four door, and an Olds powered 51 coupe. My good friend owned a Buick powered 51 convertible backed with a 4 speed. They were a popular car in the 60's.
Jon, the VW's were great little cars back then. Super cheap on gas and made great dune buggies.
