    Default How do I find out what Pantone value a specific colour in Xara is?

    Hello

    How do I find out what Pantone value a colour is?

    e.g. I have a colour which is

    CMYK:
    C 7.1%
    M 1.6%
    Y 0%
    K 0%

    RGB:
    R 97.6%
    G 95.7%
    B 91.9%

    #f9f4ea

    HSV:
    H 40.1%
    S 5.9%
    V 97.6%

    ==> What colour is it?

    FWIW we are needing to choose a Dulux or Crown paints nearest match...

    I think if you can print a good match of the color you are describing here, places that sell paint can scan the color and mix paint that may match or be close to the scanned color.

    I am not aware of sampling a screen color to find it's spot color match. You might explore Pantone's website and see if they offer a way to do this https://www.pantone.com/eu/en/color-finder

    Try https://www.pantone.com/color-finder.
    I input your Hex RGB and went for all Pantone Books.

    The closest match was https://www.pantone.com/color-finder/P-1-9-U, which is RGB #f9f6e5 (c.f., yours being f9f4ea).

    @shipen, won't Dulux have such a tool?

    Keep in mind that about 1/2 of all colors you see on the screen can be matched with CMYK, 25% come close and the remaining 25% cannot be accurately matched.

    I do not know how paint matching works or what their accuracy is but the idea is the same.

    I think printing would be a disaster - these matters are far to finely tuned as it is the colour for a room's walls.

    Thanks - yes I tried something similar but that pantone colour strikes me as being quite a long way off(!)... but maybe that's as close as it's possible to get with Pantone [??].

    Fwiw, the background is that we are trying to find a very much paler version of Dulux's Gardenia.

    as this is for decoration no doubt you are taking ambient lightting of the locataion into account, as well as the effect of colours that may be adjacent

    ok I may be being picky, but if you think printing would be off, just imagine shining a few lights around the room and think what that does....

    think holistic

    All I was going to suggest was buy a pot of white and mix in to match desired colour if Gardenia is that close.
    They all look Magnolia in the end.

    currently I am working in a room the wallpaper of which is well over 25 years old... one day we will paint over it, as we are not into wallpaper and it was not our choice we inherited it from previous owner, but hey we never seem to get round to doing anything about it... sod's law says I will miss it when it's gone....

    Not sure about the U.K., but here I can go and say "I want Dulux Gardenia but only half strength" and they will mix it with a slightly "diluted" formula. They will also sell you a sample size, that will allow you to paint a couple of square feet as a test

    Just talk to your paint specialist and see what they say.
