Audio Player Design

These are my thoughts on the construction of a simple Audio Player that works across Variants and has a bit more oomph than the Xara-generated one.

This approach embeds the MP3 into the Xara .XAR / .WEB file directly, which makes it easier for collating all the assets into one file but the file size can therefore grow quite large.

Great idea Acorn,

I will give it a test drive.

One question: you are using Pro+ now - I have stayed put with v17 (for all the reasons I and others have documented in the Pro vs Pro+ threads).

When I open the .XAR, I receive the now familiar warning: From my tests with Pro+ Beta1 and Beta2, I am assuming I can ignore the warning message on this occasion?

It is simply reporting the Xara version number is newer.
Resave and nothing else changes.

Hi Acorn, thank you for sharing, it's nice and I like the moving effect. But I can't understand the scaling. I change the dimension of the place holder but the player is always truncate in the preview and when I preview in Google the scale is good bit the skin change.

@acorn. My apologies Acorn for resurrecting this thread. I'm going to use the simple player that you posted above, rather than the much larger and complex one posted a short time ago. I really need something quick and easy.

One question - where do I place the mp3 file once I have the code in my placeholder. I do not enjoy the drag n' drop that Xara supplies. Thank you very much for answering.

Bill, I placed all the Design Notes in the Variant in a special layer.

In using Ctrl+Alt+Shift+A, you don't place the MP3 anywhere, the action stores it safe until you save and publish.
