Yes - I searched (and the results are laughable), But all of a sudden, when I unlock the aspect ratio button, I can no longer "squash" the text a bit side to side.
What have I accidentally done after al this time...

Right click on the Lock Aspect Ratio button on the Infobar and if Smart Transform is checked un-check it.
