Btw, the entry of for "Xara Pro+" on Wikipedia seems very out of date!

Thank you. Let's hope it's good. I have been waiting SIX years for this upgrade!

First problem: It won't let me right click on a PDF file and open it with XDPro X - it keeps reverting to my old XDPro 10.
So I had to uninstall XDP10. Now it seems to work...

shipen, pity you did, ask first the next time.

Right-click on the PDF, pick Open With.
If your required XDA (e.g., v18) is not listed, click Choose another app > More apps > Look for another App on this PC. In Program Files > Xara > Xara Designer Pro X > 18: Pick DesignerPro.exe.

Yup, that's exactly what I tried. It caused Windows to pause for thought for several seconds, but then it went ahead and opened version 10. TBH, I simply couldn't believe it had done that, so I tried about 3 times to make sure I was definitely selecting the vesrion 18... but nope, it simply opened with version 10.

You may want to try the following:

Change default programs in Windows 10

    • On the Start menu, select Settings > Apps > Default apps.
    • Select which default extension (.pdf) you want to set, and then choose the app.

No, I don't want Xara to be my .PDF viewer, because it it too slow to open. For now I am using SumatraPDF for that - but fwiw, I'm pretty unhappy with ALL of the PDF editors that I've tried.

Ironically it may well be that despite it's long-awaited many and various powers, that I wind up using Xara more often merely to edit PDFs than to do anything else!

But I have had a lot of trouble with getting Windows Explorer to view PDFs when they are selected, but without opening them.
