Default Multiple transparency gradiants on a graphic.

I've included 3 jpgs. The original from content catalog. The end result I wanted and achieved the hard way, and the end ad as to why I would want the grapic that way. I'm askng about transparency, not content aware resize or photo saturation. Often I want to have a portion of the photo to be at its vibrant state, but a gradiant to fade from that section vertically to top and after that section to bottom, or horizontally left to right. I don't want a circular gradiant. What I end up doing is creating the one gradient. then copying the photo and cropping it to the portion below (as here) or the left or right, applying the transparency gradient to that portion. Then I have to crop the original (otherwise there won't be any transparency) and position the bottom or left or right portion. If you wish you can just direct me to a tutorial. Thank you.

Not sure if I'm reading what you're writing, but here goes...
Use Linear transparency by wiping top to bottom or left to right
Hover over the transparency line until the cursor icon turns to a hand
Double click to create a node (you can do this multiple times)
Click the centre node and adjust the transparency to 0%
Click an end node and adjust to 100% - repeat on the other end node

Having multiple nodes gives you multiple options. Is this what you're after?

You can apply a transparency, any kind, to an image. Then group the image (Arrange > Group) and apply a second transparency.

you can do what gary suggests the once - make your image object a group that you can apply a second transparency to; if you want to apply a third transparency then you can group your image object group with a 100% transparent object that will not be seen, and so apply a third transparency to this new group - you can keep on doing this....

Info Re: Multiple transparency gradiants on a graphic.

This is similar to @handrawn but requires thought and careful manipulation.

    Start with an image.

    REPEAT STEPS

    • Clone it.
    • Group.
    • Apply effect (transparency, fill).
    • Open the Page and Layer gallery.
    • Expand the Group.
    • Select the top-most image & delete.

Apply the Repeat Steps to the new Group.
You end up with one image in a ladder of Groups.

I'd not thought about the grouping before, so I gave it go with a couple of extras - the added 'Fx' is not able in all the Xara products, but no doubt TGers have numerous ways of doing these things.

The PNG looks much better in real-life.
