Sorry to disturb your Sunday, but...

Can anyone help me achieve a transparent rectangle with a coloured spot in the centre-ish; I want the extra area as a spacer in a menu.

    And without fringes etc.

I've tried looking in old topics here, and in various other places all to no avail.

Thanks... (I've posted the XAR file with a grab of them menu).

Per below, this is what the GIF dialog should look like. The spot shown here was on top of the white background not the rectangle.

To make it appear the background rectangle is "tranparent", the rectangle must be the SAME color and/or texture AS THE BACKGROUND of your web page or final output.

In your case, center the spot on top of the properly-colored rectangle and select the rectangle (or both the spot and the rectangle) and then do a File > Export > Gif.

For the long story seeWebXealot 31

For the Reader's Digest version see below.

Your spacer rectangle should have no fill and no outline and should be placed over a larger section of color or pattern which corresponds to the background on your web page.

Select the visible object(s) and the spacer rectangle and Export > GIF (or 8-bit PNG) > with the Transprency option (the wine glass) option selected.

Yes, Gary. Spot on. I have to tolerate a slight flare as sometimes the spot is over white, sometimes pink and sometimes blue, or any combination.

It's at times like these when, although XaraX can be irritating at times, you thank your lucky stars you don't have to turn to other software much. What scrappy interfaces, needless confusion, rubbish help files, etc.... I know people do get used to other software, but so much wasted effort in the learning process.

And *we* have experts on tap who can guide us when we get stuck. Many thanks.
