Xara adding a boarder to Jpegs

Hi,

I'm trying to overlay an image over another as part of a tile animation.

I have taken a section of the background then added a PNG with transparency over that and saved it as a jpg at the right resolution.

The issue is that it's being saved with an artificial edge. I can make the image in say paint.net and its not in xara. Any ideas?

Make sure the image is in even Pixels. If an image is say, 245.6px, or anything other than even pixels such as 245px, then Xara will blend the edges of the image which can create the border you are referring to.

since your images have straight edges it may also be beneficial to work with antialias switched off when tiling - xara window menu > view quality > full colour

and as well as even pixels sizing that gary mentioned, place your image on whole pixel x y coordinates

It seems that changing to full colour sorted the background edge issues however it made the image that I had overlayed look bad

I'm going to stick with generating the images in another prog

once they are tiled and you switch back to high quality does that fix it ?

You can place any overlay, png or jpg, in a placeholder and stack that placeholder over your slider placeholder. e.g. https://initiostar.co.uk/demo/TileSlide/

This maintains the integrity of the original images - you cannot though do that with individual slides with this slider; the overlay would have to be an integral part of the image.
