Matt, just tried the WebP Export.

I took the Default image and exported as (WebP, JPEG, PNG) with file sizes (2.86kB, 9.40kB, 5.98kB).
I await the WebP Import with interest.

In passing, have you fixed the Image Filename issue, without which we still have to jump through hoops?
You do not appear to have added WebP in Web Properties > Image > Web image type. This is essential.
UPDATE: You have! But not where it ought to be Web Properties > Website > Other > Include WebP Images.

Struck out: This works but fails to accept/understand/use the Image Filename!​ - my XDA required a full system reboot, now corrected.
