Default V4 No spell check? No way.

I have enjoyed using Xara for the last two versions and would like to continue to support the product, but having a major upgrade (V4) not include spell check makes my decision not to upgrade very easy. That little demo of the the liquid text feature looks really nice, but it's grossly overshadowed by the hassle of having to export my text just to spell check it in another app. Bad move Magix.

My guess is that as Xtreme is neither a word processor or DTP application, perhaps it was considered that spell checking could be done before importing text in your Xtreme text columns?

Not to say that a spell checker wouldn't be nice...

Spell checks aren't that good anyway, you can't beat reading over what you wrote yourself and checking it by hand:

This peom about a spelling checker came from the web (not sure of the author):

    THE SPELLING CHEQUER

    Eye halve a spelling chequer
It came with my pea sea
It plainly marques four my revue
Miss steaks eye kin knot sea.

Eye strike a key and type a word
And weight four it two say
Weather eye am wrong oar write
It shows me strait a weigh.

As soon as a mist ache is maid
It nose bee fore two long
And eye can put the error rite
    Its rarely ever wrong.

Eye have run this poem threw it
I am shore your pleased two no
Its letter perfect in it's weigh
    My chequer tolled me sew.

But it's true, to know that a spell checker has chosen the correct word, or to manually check a dictionary, first you must know how to spell.

I guess they really should be *typo' checkers*

spell checkers are of limited use - and this is a writer speaking - two legitimate words mixed up - eg 'there' and 'their' and it fails

    you must proof read

I an answer to an earlier thread of mine regarding repelling text around invisible objects Charles stated that there were further upgrades to text handling such as irregular text frames, leaders and yes, a spell checker in the pipe line.

In the mean time type the text in an application with a spell checker, I use Word, and export to xara text frame(s) though as already mentioned elsewhere smelling errors don't alway shoe up
