When Pop ups don't work

I just ran across this and solved it, but wanted to post in the event anyone else runs into it. I have a jpg file of an industrial Joystick that is much taller than it is wide. I had been setting my pop ups to 1000 px for desktop applications and when I set this image to the same there was no + appearing on the cursor when hovering and it would not pop up while being viewed. I changed to 500 px and all is well. It looks like if an image is going to exceed the display size it just ignores the pop up setting.

I have just tried with a portrait image and its maximum pop-up width is 3080px.
definitely after 3100px, no pop-up.

Under 3080px, it fits to the available browser height, with a Expand icon bottom-right with code [javascript:hs.expanders[0].doFullExpand();].
If I zoom out and use this expander, the widest I seem to get is 50% of th proper width, which was set.

It is possible Xara wrote this call as it is not immediately in the current Highslide API.
Then again, Xara has never updated Higshlide so the call might have a built-in limitation.
