PDF/X Auto bleed

So using auto bleed, I get these horrid lines around the image. See pic.
What is happening?

For sake of privacy I pixelated the text.

Xara extends the edges of the photo, and not all that well. For my money I would just post a slightly larger image to compensate for the bleed and remember to keep all live matter (text, etc) in from the edge.

those lines are the crop-marks that have been extended out well beyond the bleed, which is the extended area gary mentioned; no fan of auto [surprised they don't call it 'smart'] myself either

You ca deaciviate it by changing the registry-entry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Xara\XtremePro x64\17\Options\Filters\PDFXAutoBleed

from 1 to 0.

In theory if you have an image that needs to stretch to accommodate the bleed then maybe OK. But it's basically not a solution I would use.

Steve - I think the question was not the crop marks but the obvious banded section of the photo in the bleed area.
