    Default The KIA Logo

In the attached image, is the old and the new KIA logos.
I'm sure you know that on the left is the old one, and on the right is the new one.

What do you think of the new logo?

    1. If you didn't know it, would you know that it says KIA?
    2. If you'd been given this gig, what would you have designed?

I honestly don't know what, if anything, I could have come up with?

I like the new logo. Kia does not conjure up any particular image in my mind except small inexpensive, I think Korean automobile.

The old logo was a nothing design.

My guess is they like the new design because it is more contemporary, forward thinking, (and all the other marketing language). And it says KIA as clearly or not clearly as the old logo. It just looks fresher.

The logo will go on Kia automobiles so it does not need to do more that it does. Does the Toyota or Lexus or Subaru (there's a logo that needs an update) really say what the car is?

    It worries me.

All can see is the missing bit:

It does not have a strong vertical symmetry, as the superposition is then:

I would pick the bottom of these two:

I don't see KIA instinctivelty with the second, I see KN

the slice out of the bottom right of the A reflects the slice out of the top left of the K, I don't see anything wrong with the symmetry myself

as a person who falls into the catagory of 'targeted' [user] as opposed to 'targeter' [designer] I like it as a design, and all it has to do is be associated in the [collective] mind with the product, asking for more than that is tiptoeing towards hubris

the old design is more like a rubber stamp....

Acorn - Your last one seems an improvement. I like it better than what they have.

Reducing the size of the IA makes the K distinct and you internally say it.
The three joined blobs don't have the same mouth appeal. KIA does.

The second form, just the K, already has the elements of all the KIA lettering.

Colouring and bringing the elements together would be an impactful animation.

right thanks I see that; I don't agree, but I see it

    it's a logo... it's visual

and actually from my point of view it has lovely symmetry - it flows, and it has parrallel diagonals and verticals - your version is 'disjointed' in comparison

I do not say mcdonalds every time I see their logo, I am unlikely to say kia everytime I see theirs

just my way of looking at it...

I only split it open to show where the lettering was. The end result would be as the original K.

Again, it is only my view.
