How do you export an animation as a sequence of PNG files with alpha?

Or do you have to export each frame individually? If that is your only recourse, what a pain in the ass.

I don't think its possible to export the animation as a png. Gif animations are prefered I suppose to keep file sizes down. So it's the pain in the arse option I'm afraid.
