Updates not showing in preview

I have been trying to update my website this morning but anything I add is not showing in preview. After looking around I noticed that all changes are showing in mouse over but not in mouse off in the page and layer gallery so I dragged the text into mouse off and then it shows in preview. The question is what have I done for this to occur and how do I put it right. As far as I know I have not knowingly changed any settings before I closed the program last night.

When you edit your site, make sure that you're doing so on the right layer. MouseOff is for content that always shows on the website and MouseOff is for content that only shows after a mouse click or mouse-over action (hence the MouseOver name).

In the Page & Layer Gallery in Layer View, the active layer is ticked with a blue arrow.
All new content goes into the active layer.

You may have selected Solo mode on the MouseOver layer, forcing it to be active.
