XDPX 17.1: How does "save settings" new functionality work?

Hi,

I just read about the new updated, and the functionality "save settings" has drawn my attention:

Save settings Even when you upgrade to a new version, Xara Designer Pro X always performs exactly the way you want.
In the future, all settings will be kept across versions, including program customizations like the button palette.

Does anyone know how "save settings" work?
Is this an exclusive functionality of the latest XDPX-Magix release, or does XDP+ also provide "save settings"?
