as in illustrator the xara artboard size is independant of the objects - you can resize it as you wish

size of object is likely native resolution in xara 96dpi, in illustrator 72dpi [ie 4:3, ie 3000:2250]

not sure about the rgb/cmyk, sorry

MOD - can you move this to a more appropriate forum...

    Thanks for the answer.
I know how to resize the artboard. How to do it with one touch?

About resolution: sometimes exported at exact size. Is it anyway important to know how to fix this problem?

in xara page options make sure lock page is unticked - then you can drag the page out with the mouse

resolution of image will depend on file type

bitmaps, PNG JPG TIFF etc, only have an absolute size

are you exporting from xara at 72dpi ? if so, as xara works at 96dpi, the absolute size will be reduced to 75% - 96 to 72, [3000 px to 2250 px] - when you export

but not all exports work this way

it occurs to me that TIFF may export as CMYK by default; PNG, JPG, BMP, PSD will always be RGB

Exporting to AI. In Adobe Illustrator. Not to raster.
I open the vector file in Illustrator and get different sizes. It's okay if there is only one such file. But in my case there are hundreds of them. This is why this is so important.
Sometimes the dimensions are the same, but more often they are reduced.
I need to change the color scheme, calculate and resize, adjust the work area. This takes a very long time.
I will try to delve into the DPI settings. I've seen this in the options.

I looked. There are no such settings.

if you are using vector it is an object not a picture and dpi does not apply, unless part of the vector is being rasterised on import into illustrator

try exporting as PDF instaed of AI

this may not cure the rasterisation as not all vector effects in xara work as vectors in illustrator

Exporting to PDF, and SVG (if you don't mind a few special features missing) is indeed the solution to exporting to Il;lustration without anyone rasterizing anything.

As for precise size, it's a crap shoot. Everything in Illustrator format, which is somewhat related to PostScript, is measured from the lower left corner up and to the right. If you export from Xara to PDF, and if you do not specify exporting the entire page, the art will not be exactly where it was on the Xara page.

As for size, well, I just exported a 256px by 256 px doodle from Xara to PDF, and aside from asking what color model I wanted (A: RGB), it came in fine and even the colors were a reasonable facsimile.

And I will move this conversion to the General area. Xara Xone has been dead for years. A decent resource, but not heavily trafficked.

    My Best,

    Gary
