Default pixelate to 1 cell pixel size

    Hey everyone,
I'm an avid user of Photoshop and I use to also use Paintshop pro in the past, although I don't have it anymore. I recall that I was able to pixelate an image into 1 pixel cell size in those days, but now it seems that with modern software, I'm not able to do this at all.

for instance in photoshop, how can one pixelate an image to mosaic with a cell size selectable 1? It only allows 2 or above, but not 1 for some reason?

I require one pixel size pixelation to convert large images into sprites.

    Thank you
    HZ

read the manual which as an aviud user you will have handy no doubt

make a start by checking in Preferences -> Guides, Grid & Slices that settings are correct for 1 subdivision down to 1 pixel

That's not it. I already have the Guides,Grid and Slices settings set for 1 pixel subdivisions.

ok you are using filter pixelate mosaic right ? - I checked right back to photoshop CS2 and that only allows a minimum value of 2, so i am not sure how far back you are going ?

this sort of pixelation is a tile effect, the tiles [cells] do not equate directly to screen pixels

if you want to work with sprites this is not the way to do it

Would you be aware of a good solution to this? I'm aware that Paintshop pro of 2013-2015 have the capability to pixelate to 1 pixel, but installing that large, bloated software just for that one single feature is really inefficient and going overboard.

    Thank you

well I am no expert in pixel editing - if you do not want to use photoshop/paintshop, then you could look to specialised software - I put query into google and came up with piskel [which never having used I know nothing about so I cannot recommend it]
