    Default thumbnails ordeal

Hello friends I have this happening again and my brain can not figure a way to fix it.
I had at one time installed the xara+ on my system. Since I do not subscribe to it any longer, I uninstalled it.
So now this happened Any new files I save now in xara pro 17 does not show the thumbs anymore.

I am still running xara Designer Pro X 17.0.0.58732

I think this can be fixed with XaReg 2.5

Make sure Xara is closed when you run XaReg.

behzad, I would Run as administrator to unfankle the prior Pro+ install.

Neither one worked. Last time I recall was I tried to reinstall xara and that did it, but I do not want to go through it again knowing the UI will default to the original.

In File Explorer do you have View set to Large or Extra Large Icons?

Try resetting your Windows icon cache and thumbnail cache.

Option 2, sections 3 and 4 are the easiest way TEN FORUMS

I also have a similar problem but with Xara Photo & Graphic Designer (v16.1.1.56358) after installing and trying DP+.

    I've tried the following suggestions:

    a) changed the file association option back and forth using XaReg v2.5

    b) run as Administrator

    c) changed the icon view size in Windows explorer

    d) changed back and forth the file association in Windows explorer (right click 'open with' option). The file icons do change across the system with each new association, but not with a thumbnail image.

    e) reset the icon cache using .bat file (as per Chris M's post) and rebooted

Personally I also don't want the faff of reinstalling and setting up the UI, (I think I might also lose the last update) so I'm going to live with it! I can still view .xar file thumbnails using the XnViewMP app (freeware for private non-commercial use).

Thank you all. Got myself a fast harddrive, will reinstall xara when that is done. I tried pretty much everything on here with no luck.

If that doesn't work, try going to Start > type cmd and then right-click that > Run as Administrator.

    Then type:

    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Designer Pro X\17\XaraDLLs\XarThumb.dll"

    And press enter
