Default Need to embed full screen video

Hi All, I have a client that would like video to fit full screen and I'm wondering how I would go about making this happen? I am currently using Designer Pro X (v. 17). I've looked at YouTube and Vimeo... I did not see a solution there. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Some time back I build a test/demo for video cover browser backgrounds and a few variations: https://initiostar.co.uk/demo/Video/

    Here is a real-world example: https://hypnosis-retreat.co.uk.

The choice of background video is the key for this effect to work across variants.

    Demo XAR attached.

Oh WOW, this is so fantastic! I really appreciate you sharing this with me, thank you! This is perfect! I will keep this in my Xara 'tool belt' for sure! I'm very grateful!

    Gary,
You may like to revisit your link hypnosis retreat as for me it's just a static image in Firefox. Might be a setting I have but I can't find one.
Works as expected in Chrome & Edge.

    Hi Egg,

    https://hypnosis-retreat.co.uk

There is a full stop at the end of the posted link which stops it working in Firefox - apologies - reminder to self to check it more carefully!

    Thanks,

    Gary

Also noticed that simulating mobile phones in Chrome and Edge by minimizing the browser only show a still image.

For this site's mobile variant, I took a conscious decision to mask the background video (where it was used). Whilst a 1920x1080 video background works on the desktop, as you (attempt to) squeeze the video into a portrait format (and place content in front) it does not really work.

I'm open minded whether this is correct or not, but you can see the challenge when you look at the demo https://initiostar.co.uk/demo/Video/ . An intro video still works well and I could have used a proportionally scaled video as a header to a page in the mobile variant, but it does not have quite the same impact - so they are intentionally still images.

You do raise an interesting question though whether a mobile variant should mirror it's desktop. Most I expect would say yes.

Even the new link, without the full stop still supplies a static image for me in FF Gary. I need to right click & select Play. Just a heads-up.

That's what it is. I thought it may be a setting as stated earlier, however I had to set it to Allow Audio & Video to play to get it working. AFAIK your video has no audio but just selecting the first option didn't work.

    • The default Block Audio setting will prevent autoplay for all media with sound.
    • The Block Audio and Video setting will prevent autoplay for all media, including video, even though audio is muted.
    • The Allow Audio and Video setting will allow all media to autoplay.

Looking further your video (link below) has no audio so ought to play at my original setting of 'Block Audio setting will prevent autoplay for all media with sound'.

    Puzzled.
