    I think I am blind or stupid. But I went and renames all the arrows etc. just like you guys suggested. I did output to drive and see attached, now there is multiple names but xara added numbers.

    No, you are not but Xara has to be.

    In adding in the Image Filename, Xara has broken a well-trodden path that i have used many times.
    Even reverting to filename="shape" fails.

    You have three options:
    1. Bitch to xara.
    2. Use Symbols instead of a custom shape.
    3. Export your shape as SVG, copy it code and put in a small Placeholder (e.g., 16x16px), copy that and in List Properties > Replace from Clipboard.

    I used SVGOMG to reduce the SVG file size and even cut out unneeded data. The image I ended up is still twice the size of a PNG but I had a small gain in not having to use another HTTP fetch for the images.

    It is sorry sate of affairs.
