I had the same problem with the first NavBar button always on. Here is what I did and everything seems to work.
First make a graphics folder to put the navbars in now follow the next steps
1.Create your navbars with everything set. Url type of window to open sub menus ect.
2.Click on save, set all the quality controls Type of nav bars jpg, gif, png and the quality Fast,Good or high quality now click on create a new project, give it a new name and click on create.
3.Now click on save graphics,Click on graphics folder, now browse to the graphics folder where you want to save the navbars and click on ok
4.Now name your navbars and click on save, make sure all the navbar files will be saved to the graphics folder. They should work fine now. I always give the navbars a different name. Also All the links on the navbars I leave out the index.html so there are no problems. All the pages on my site are in seperate folders so I name them all index.html.

Im using Windows XP, WebStyle 4.0, Namo 5.0 editor.

These steps worked for me Give it a try....Gary

I have the same problem at

Top button does not point to viewed page yet remains in mouse over state. Have tried all of the suggested solutions included in this thread as well as a few others - no success. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I don't know if this can help. It's an easy way to work around the over state. What I know is that the "ON state" will diseaper when the is a dropdown menu added so I did this to get the "ON state" disabled.

I added on the first button (the home button) one row for the dropdown menu. Diden't type anything there, then I only set the transparancy for the dropdown menu to 100%. Now the dropdown is hidden, and ON State disabled http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
