    Question Xara Hosting

    Dear Xara Cloud+...

In Xara Designer Pro+, there is Share > Sign into Xara Hosting which I presently use for TG demonstrations - e.g., http://acorn.xara.hosting/sgram/.
The problem is this is run by your service partner MAGIX Software GmbH.

Previously, I would pay for the Update Service for XDPX and get a one-year voucher for Xara Hosting.
I will not be renewing the Magix route and will continue my subscription for the Cloud+/Designer Pro+ bundle instead.

    At that point, what happens?
I have Pro+ access to the Online Content Catalogue > Print & Web Components > Image Resources > Photo Slideshows & Galleries where the Xara Slideshow Widget is available. Without renewing the Magix Update Service or buying 2GB insecure Web Space (!) for £24/y, I appear to have lost access to my published resources.

Will the service still be made available for Pro+ subscribers?
Otherwise, can I expect a £24 discount towards offsetting this loss?
Do I instead use the Cloud+ service to deliver such content, e.g., https://shared.xara.com/ufY502zxsd? [The example was created in Pro+, does not display properly in Cloud+ but renders to web correctly - as reported as a Bug here already - not harm in pushing a little, is there?]
What limits are there for using https://shared.xara.com/ in this fashion?

    Acorn

P.S. It appears Xara responses to any Dear Xara Threads have sadly reverted to a non-existent trickle.

    Hi Acorn,

Xara hosting is a separate service to Xara Cloud and is not included currently at any level. As you know its looked after by Magix so we can't include it within our packages. We'd have to look into our own hosting (which is on the drawing board).

So in response to your questions - likely no to Pro+ users and no to a discount.

There's no publish limits currently as far as I am aware to the shared address.

If I recall you can upgrade your hosting without the update service. If you go to your account, then under my contracts and then where it says free hosting, click on the options dropdown and upgrade.

P.S. Best to ping a message to bring something to our attention to something.

Rob, I felt it rude to hit you on Discord as well but if you are happy, I shall.

Yes, you can upgrade the hosting service separately. That is not the point. Xara made a choice that forced this on your Customers. There were no explicit caveats.
You call it a Xara Slideshow Widget. You present it on-line in the Xara Online Content Catalogue (https://downloadsv17.xara.com/web/catalog/). You host it on Xara On-line (subdomain.xara.hosting.com) so it's not a duck but a canard as Magix control it.

In my case, I shied well clear as it as on a different domain, unencrypted and offered a very limited range of features. Also you may recall, Xara removed the Widget from v12 for some reason; eventually Kate Moir promised its return but never did reappear for v12 Customers (FYI: http://downloadsv12.xara.com/web/catalog/).

I am capable of building and hosting my own. Few others may be as fortunate so I do try to share and help.

I shall move my TG sites across onto shared.xara.com away from xara.hosting. Quite tedious - https://www.google.com/search?q=site...=1464&bih=1046.

    Just saying.
