Pro X17 Renew the Update Service

Hi,

I have not renewed or paid the update service that was due by 4th July 2020

My current software is :-
Xara Designer Pro X 17.0.0.58732 DL x64 Mar 12 2020
Update service Code 4308 KA4
I now get a pop up?

Renew the Update Service
Installs the latest version of the Update Service for your software

Start Installation (button)

If I start the installation will i be billed for this ? do i need to pay between $80 and $125
every year ? not sure how much the upgrade would be?

I am confused about this update service
will it be a new version?

I am happy with my current version but i notice every year at this time of renewal
i get all sorts of anomolies happen screen errors and odd bugs in editing etc
making me think there is something wrong with my current software
making me believe i should upgrade?

This happens every year without fail
and i have upgraded regularly back from the days of Xara Extreme
I would appreciate any feed back about this new upgrade pop up box
prompting me to renew? haven't seen this one before
and it hides behind Xara?

You will not be billed for this. What it does exactly I don't know, probably something to do with the nag screen when you start up Xara when you're out of the update service period.
I got the same message on a partition with v16 on it that's out of the update service, nothing bad happened after installing this.

This doesn't change anything about how your v17 version works.
I would see it as two different programs.
you have Xara Designer Pro X 17, and then there is separate small program that deals with the update service, and that's what this update is for.

I don't know what type of anomalies, screen errors and bugs you get, but I highly doubt the update service has anything to do with that.

Ok I clicked on start installation? nothing happened?
I closed Xara and re-opened same nag screen again and again.

If I chose the other option to upgrade pop nag screen it takes me to
Upgrade: Xara Designer Pro X Valid until August 13, 2020 Included as part of this offer: ASEOPS 11 (£285 value) Regularly £199.00 £99.99

I already have AESOPS from my last upgrade do I need this upgrade for another $99 ?

and what version will it become if i do pay this $99 it says PRO X is it version 18?

Perhaps I could just stop these nag screens somehow? any ideas?
i don't need the catalogue access i can get all those features from a previous version of Xara Pro X 11

The nag screen doesn't go away after this small update, it just updates a part of the update service program. I don't know what exactly.
Some other people may have found a trick to get rid of these screens at startup, I just click close and move on.

The latest version is v17. If you don't need access to the online content catalog, there is no need to extend your update service at the moment.
Just close these messages at startup and continue to do your work in v17.

Thanks again this is useful help,

I have tried to find a way of changing the the key in the regedit
the update is set to (0) perhaps changing it to (1) might stop it

I agree with you, as you say just close them pesky nag screens and carry on and don't get annoyed with it!

not a good idea to change that registry key

the screen you posted in your first post refers to an update to the updater program, not to the xara program itself - as know1 said the upate to the updater is known to have problems
