Technical question (by layman): Why the yellow highlights on the Messerschmitt? Doesn't that make it a clearer target?

the Luftwaffe used the yellow markings originally in order to identify their planes and avoid them being shot down by friendly fire - on that basis I don't think they would have been that way in the battle of britain, but I am no expert.. it was more likely used in ground strafing when low flying could make identification [quickly] more of an issue
