How do I copy text and images

Situation:
I make a little box
add a photo
ad/format text the way I like
Shadows and round borders
All fancy things the way I like it
I want to duplicate the entire thing
so I make a cop
to change the image can change the text
Every time I do this:
things are lost in layers or move forward and backward

so

what is the best we to do this

Put everything on one layer, or marque select the entire group of objects and text (objects have to be visible to be selected). Then copy the selection.

To Marquee select, drag a selection rectangle around the objects. Or you can Hold down the Shift key and click on multiple objects.

but then I had to Rt click - arrange, bring to front layer?
or bring fwd, or send the box back
don't recall even trying to make layers in the first place
as I have no need

maybe in next sites I will pay more attention

just found rt click drag
to auto copy -- that might help me at times

yeah = the rt click-drag works perfectly for me
So I can make an object the way I like it
with all the fancy formatting
select all
right click and drag and duplicated

Sometimes if you import something, it will put the imported objects on a new layer.
