    Default Site Description

Curiosity question, not a problem that needs answers.

I just finished a site for a retired actor turned author. In the website description box I used "Bryon Williams, Australian actor, director and author." I used the same for the page description of the home page too.

When typing bryonsbooks.com.au into Bing, it returns the first paragraph of the home page as the description. Google returns a snippet from a book description on a popup layer on page 3. Duck Duck hasn't found the site yet.

Why has Bing and Google found random paragraphs and ignored the site and page descriptions? They haven't used H1 or H2 either, just Normal Text.

Patience Grasshopper. Different search engines with different bots; they prioritise differently and come around again when there is more traffic.

Have you "told" Google about your site?

Yes, I ventured into the Search Console and sent Google hunting a couple of days ago. I was more curious as to why Google picked up it's description from the middle of the site rather than the specifically designated text.
