    so... we in the uk that do not use US letter [much if at all] are ok... and you have an issue....I think it is a regional settings thing...

    I'm in the US and the letter-size works properly. By default the default.svg document in the Template folder is an A4 document. I don't believe Inkscape is region-aware.

    Subsequently, I did alter the original default.svg document so Inkscape always starts with a letter-size document set to inches.

    well that was my understanding.. and the A4 is default, but I would expect that as I would mm as default units

    could it be a ruler bug ?

    Keith, I can now also reproduce the same page size error (I’m in the UK). I think there is a mistake (a numerical typo, 9.5 instead of 8.5) contained in one of the template files Inkscape uses to create pages when following the method you described in post #16. I’ll let Inkscape know.

    Thank you ... Good to know. I was working this afternoon, so really didn't have time to open accounts so that I could report a simple bug.
