    oh you would raise the 'bar'

    the groynes are doing their job this end, and the sand is high

    it will shift as it always does

    you can see the groynes and need to use the steps again further down the beach:

    there are a lot of pebbles too, the east yorkshire coast from Bridlington down to the Humber being glacial boulder-clay, sometimes it can be just like walking on scree when it banks up...

    I really must get down to that part of the coast when things settle down. I remember studying LSD (longshore drift) at school. I grew up by the sea (dan south) and often long for the smell and sound of the sea. Sometimes when the Shetland mussels are being cleaned at work I get a good lungful off salty air. Don’t know when that’s going to happen again!
