Thanks Ross, I think I can do everything that I need to do publishing wise in XP&GD I've used that extensively since CorelXara 1.0 so am quite happy with it ... Publisher was the one that I thought I could easily do without ... Although to be fair, I'm not sure there's anything I can't really do in XP&GD anyway. I'll probably just buy it and the never use it, depending on the learning curve.

Yes, I think it matters...else I wouldn't have mentioned it.

Just like here--but with vastly more people posting--user state "how to do X in my Affinity application," or "I have a bug in Affinity." Then, like here sometimes, it's like pulling teeth to get them to identify what actual application is being used. Or people will try to help only to discover they are using a different Affinity application than they assumed (like here too) and then, 10 posts later, different advice is given.

It is an amazing offer but I find as I get older, I have less time and patience to learn new tricks with the new softwares. I still have to master Xara after 20 some odd years and can't imagine learning a new one, but it can compliment xara in what it can not do. I have to think about their offer before it expires. By any chance do you know the version number of their software? They do not mention it anywhere.

sure, if they are asking for specific program help, but product group wise it is perfectly clear

generally i will continue to say, for example, 'westminster' when i mean 'the palace of westminster' not the city district; context is king, most people will still understand...

lets not even tell everyone photoshop is actually adobe... it's meant to be a big secret

    Hi, all.

Back in 2014, when we determined that I would design our business website, I investigated different software to see which would offer the most potential for the best price ratio. Xara WDP was the decision in the end, but I also experimented with the trial version Serif’s WebPlus. (Imagine my relief for not choosing it when I learned they shut it down.)

With all the current discussion here, I checked out Affinity’s website. Is it correct, that they no longer offer a product that facilitates web design, or does one of their apps work well for that?

I also wanted to ask those who use Xara and Affinity in conjunction if they think there would be a benefit for someone who is essentially interested in web design, and that, in a somewhat limited capacity (i.e., non-professional). For example, if any of the Affinity apps would offer significantly higher quality or better options to develop graphics or manipulate photos that could then be brought over into WDP.

Affinity’s website looks impressive, so I was just wondering if anyone with experience had an opinion on this.

Talking of Adobe, I think they're giving students free home access to their schools Creative Cloud license and businesses 90 days grace for renewing, not such a grand gesture, but at least it's something.

I would have thought Xara's cloud based 'Smart Collaboration' would be taking full advantage of the home/remote working possibilities.

The affinity suite does not support web site creation. It takes specific tasks and has specialised programs that integrate well together rather than one do-it-all bit of software like Xara.

If web design is your specific aim and you like Xara software, stick with it.
