Info SVG Vector Logos - for free

I use Boxy SVG and it recently added a vector library that is also directly accessible - GitHub - gilbarbara/logos: A huge collection of SVG logos.

All these company SVGs are accessible to your XDA, either as a Download and drag into the design or as a code copy SVG Placeholder.
The first coverts to Xara shapes.

It links to another website, SVGPORN (really poor social naming), but it is legit, where you can search the metadata.
I mention this as the tagging and search is far slicker than our Xara On-line Content Catalogue approach.

I might point out a good collection of free and professional looking logos in Pro+ Designs Gallery > Print and Web Components > Logos. These are all vector I believe and can easily be converted to SVG if desired. Of if used in a website, I think automatically converted to SVG.

Add your company name and you're in business.

Gary, here, Xara offers 75 mock logo. The site I cited has 1,797 company logos that these actual companies paid for for use in their products. I put it up to show the range of designs for inspiration.

As a counter example, take the approach Xara is still using when you Add Link for a PDF file.
For some unfathomable reason, Xara includes a URL image of https://webdesigner.xara.com/pdficon_large.png, a 1.4kB download if you are connected to the Internet for a 29x32px image.
This is never rendered as a WebP, shown as an @2x file or converted to SVG.
If the Xara server drops out, your site is affected.

For those interested, use the OCC and a Pixabay vector download of a PDF shape of your choice.
Then use Link > Link to file. This gives you total control.

    That's fine Acorn.

But as someone who designed logos as part of our graphic design company services, I did not think the logos posted were good designs. Just my opinion.

And if someone is not design oriented, if they don't understand and try to use one of the logos you posted the link to, they will be violating someone's copyrights.

The logos provided by Xara are free, IMO clean attractive designs, and do not have any restrictions aside from someone trying to resell the package.

Gary, I think that same person might just go to the company site and lift the graphic from there regardless.

A sensible designer would look at these company logos in depth, deciding how they are made and used and aim higher. Interesting that you are dismissing much of the IT sector.

I object to the Xara Logos both in quantity and in a lack to integration into a design - they fail to use Themed Colours in a way that can be easily separated.
When imported, all that have Themed Colours adopt the design pages set-up without the opportunity to accept Xara's original colours.
Damningly, few will render as SVG as Xara chose to group each as a single image, text and all.

Abstract 13 has to be ungrouped twice for you to find you have to Break Shapes to get to the base level.
Not useful if you want to modify to your need.

acorn, whilst I hear what you say, surely it does not matter because they are only a reference

you are going to be designing from scratch if you want a great logo, and if it is so complicated tha you need to import asset to do it, it not a great logo

I mean, would I want a design based on a design someone else might have used ? - only in the inspirational sense, in that my inspiration, if I am a good designer, is 'unique'

Yes, only a reference. If you are totally stumped as to how MS Edge logo is rendered then download it, open it and unpack it to see how you might construct your design.

No one in their right mind would use stock images to populate their site but they give you an initial nudge.
That is why Boxy SVG is so useful. For bitmaps, you not only have Pixabay, you have Pexels, Unsplash and Wikimedia to choose from.
I also use Everything and XaraTemplates' stock photos as another set of tools.

Back to vector logos. In Boxy SVG, I can pick a company logo and animate it. Clean and sharp SVG with small and compact CSS, nigh on impossible with Xara's limitations.

P.S. Thank you for us all actually having a discussion.
