Default Problem - Need transparent shadow on PNG - still possible?

    Hi

I started using Xara sooo many years ago and love it.
Now I am making graphics for a website and need to export irregularly shaped PNG images with a transparent black shadow that can work on any background.
Here's a sample of what I need to do - if I'm not mistaken it was made on Xara around 2007.
Now if I export an image it makes the shadow in the color of the background which in this case is not acceptable.
I can't seem to figure it out - is this still possible in modern Xara?
    Am using P&GD2013.

Am cutting jpg images into irregular shapes, so it's not just the shadow problem, Xara adds a thin background edge color line when these are saved as transparent PNGs and that's also not acceptable in this application. B-(

If it can't be done in Xara please suggest something easy and cheap I can use to trim JPG images into irregular shapes and add shadow with no background color - see the hero image on this post to understand the application https://liveyounger.co/uncategorized...r-much-longer/.
The images should show smaller with shadow on any background and we're considering using different color backgrounds for different post categories.
Also may want to change background color when we refresh the site design periodically.

    HUGE thanks
    Bill

    Welcome to TG Bill.

It can easily be done in Xara.
I copied/pasted your original into Xara.
Created a circle above it (no fill, red stroke) and centered it over the button.
Select both, Arrange / Combine Shapes / Intersect Shapes (Ctrl+3)
Next add a wall shadow to suit.
Above this create another rectangle, ensuring it encompasses the button and shadow. Set to no fill , no stroke, and ensure it's whole pixels.
Select all (button, shadow and rectangle)
Arrange / Create Bitmap Copy with alpha.

    See attached xar file.

Bill - Export your PNG True Color + Alpha not 256 Colors. The result is cleaner and should not have a white fringe.
