US$30 but very versatile and used by 3 companies I have done work for. All 3 have used the software for several years and no complaints.

Or, create a line of text, make it white, add flat transparency and place it over the photo. Free.

Ha, of course. I instantly went down the 'Here's 100 photos, watermark 'em'. If there aren't so many doing it by hand is far more rewarding, both monetary and satisfaction wise.

That, however, will create the text/image sitting on top of the image so the image can still be abstracted.

Even if you Group or Soft-group, the text and image may still be kept separate in the output.
Apply Clipview works well as does Apply opacity mask.
The former needs a Transparency, the latter does it more easily by change the text colour. This gives individual glyph transparency control.

Gary years ago I think you had a way in one of your tutorials could be wrong but I seem to remember it but wouldn't know where to find it to suggest it.

Joe - I think it was this one http://archive.xaraxone.com/webxealo...39/page_4.html

You can search for specific things in Google (or I use DuckDuckGo) using search word or phrase site:archives.xaraxone.com
