    Default Color question

I designed a poster with a grey background and a green overlay with some transparancy as base. Photo and text added.Exported the file as .pdf for professional printing.
Printed a copy with my inkjet printer to see the result. It came out perfect.

Send the file to a commercial print company and there the green color changed to purpel????
Exported the file to .jpeg and came out the same...

Any idea what could have gone wrong?

    Welcome to TalkGraphics

Your inkjet printer is using your print driver to print to your printer.

How does the color look in the PDF file you created?

Xara works more or less in RGB color space which can display brighter more saturated colors. CMYK color is more limited.

Still I would not expect to see a color shift from green to purple.

Maybe mwenz (Mike) will have a better idea what happened.

I am going to move this thread to the Xara Graphics Chat forum.

I have no idea per se without seeing a file sample.

However, if the green was added in order to change the gray, I would recommend just making the gray itself to reflect the desired color. You would avoid print establishments who cannot deal with transparency properly...assuming the pdf looks correct in either Adobe Reader or Acrobat (preferably Acrobat) anyway.

    That could explain the problem.
    Thanks.
