    Yes it is searchable.
It is downloadable from http://dl03.magix.net/manual_designerprox16_en.pdf for version 16.3.

MagiXara stupidly put this as a link into Help > PDF Manual so everytime you want to read sometime, MagiXara expects you to download it all over!?! earlier versions unpacked it into C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Designer Pro X\16\HelpAndSupport\ENG\ and linked to the local file!
I raised this as a Dear Xara but, like most other things, no reply.

I'm on XDP 15.1 and in its Program Files folder there's only xarax.chm, so thanks for that link (I changed "manual_designerprox16_en.pdf" into "manual_designerprox15_en.pdf" for the download). So much easier to navigate than the standard Help file.

Yes, there is also a http://dl03.magix.net/manual_webdesigner15_en.pdf & http://dl03.magix.net/manual_webdesigner16_en.pdf but why would MagiXara tell you?

i have not pecked around for any German versions.

It seems straightforward from Xara Help to import the GIF and it should just work... What am I doing wrong??

I agree with handrawn here, I have done this many tunes but first I open a new animation then import the animation and it always works.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
