    Default Where's My Guideline?

    Hey TG!

SO . . . I can't seem to figure out how to make this guide object appear!

I tried something similar and it works as expected and yields three guide objects. Have you tried to start with a new document?

    Can't work it out.
Clone one of the ones that is in place and resize and rename.

Only will be able to work it out with an upload.

The wide rectangle on the top is a rectangle and a text area.

If you cut the pink wide rectangle and paste it onto the Guides layer, and add an outline, it shows with the red dashed outline.

Indeed, the same result as you had. But when I replaced the top box with a new rectangle, it worked as expected.

Braden, everything moves properly into the Guides layer.

You have overlaid each box with a Text Area (almost).

The top box is exactly underneath the Text Area, which is why it show green.
The top box is there, it just doesn't have a Line width and for some reason it is not presenting in the same way the other shapes do. A width of 0px works.
If you select Box, the status Line displays "1 shape 'Box' on layer Guides:".

The two larger boxes are odd shapes with three unneeded Point Handles.

I suspect you have created a chimera that will overrun us all if you don't delete it and make another tamed box.
Do use the Rectangle Tool (M), far cleaner.

The strange point is the other boxes have no Line widths and they work.

its because, although you can't see it as it is set to none the upper box has a stroke profile assigned - cigar

reset it to default stroke and it should work

that will over-ride the stroke shape profile; setting width to 'none' does not

AFAIK guide shapes cannot have stroke profiles
