its because, although you can't see it as it is set to none the upper box has a stroke profile assigned - cigar
reset it to default stroke and it should work

When I make a new page, all my text boxes are gone!
I can make the two columns overflow continuously, but what about the header box?
How can i make that repeat without repeating the text that's inside?

I just want to click new page and have it set up like the first one.

you may need to make it a repeating object - i don't have any need of those so i am not certain how they work... but acorn will i am sure

if you have already set repeating object up, then it may be a master page requirement and unfortunately, xara does not have that

Create a page.
Add a large Text Area, clone and position adjacent.
With the Text Tool in the left box, click and drag the black circle with white down arrow into the right box. An arrowed line, bottom right of the first box to top left of the second is created.
Again, click the black circle with white down arrow but this time, in the context menu, pick Automatically create new pages.

Add the header box.
Set as a Repeating Object on all pages.
Add in some header text or leave blank.

Input tons of text.

For the repeating header, select individual headers or just the one.
Select Arrange > Repeating Object > Stop repeating.
Pick this one or all.

If this is to be a "book", set File > Page Options > General > Document editing > Document type: Print document.

Now I might include Insert > Page number.
I then copy the number into a Text Area and set that Repeating as Xara (wisely) makes it numbering in a Text Line.
