    Default Xara 3D

I have long suspected (known) that Xara's 3D Tool and its partner in crime the Bevel Tool are not what they purport to be.
That is, when all is said and done, the end result seems to be a hybrid between vector and bitmap.

Results are unconvincing at best. No improvements have been made to this little backwater in Xara Designer, or its subsidiary
program, Xara3D for a very long time.

Can anyone confirm that this is faux 3D or 2.5D? I'm sure that this question has surfaced
before on TG but I haven's been able to find it.

To explain the attached graphic, on the left is a Mold, Centre is an Extrusion and on the right is the extrusion broken apart,
becoming a clipped photo in the process.

The tool is as you say a hybrid. But it is also a live effect. So if you go back to edit the bevel or 3D effect, it is still editable until you Convert to Curves at which point it becomes I believe a bitmap.

Live effects are very powerful and flexible.

But as you suggest Bob, another orphaned tool that has not been updated.
