    Here's my effort Rik. Close but no cigar, but it is all vector. One could play around with it and get it fairly close.

    Thanks for your input, Steve and gray.

    gray: Let us all know what you did and how you did it.

    I have also been looking at what I did.
    And found that I didn't really need to create a bitmap copy.

    So, I've attached the new way I did it.

    Rik, I just draw the shapes and add fills, transparencies and feathering till I get the look I want.

    This image is impossible. It breaks all rules of light and form. Why would you want to recreate this other than making an optical illusion? :P

    Actually, it's not impossible ... If you imagine the outline of the R as a cookie cutter, then you will get what Rik drew.
