Increase the zoom. The eraser and shape painter nibs will remain the same size.
Not sure what you are trying to accomplish in your second question. Can you be more specific? I am sure there is an answer.

First question - figured it by myself, increasing the size of the page makes the minimal brush... smaller.
makes no sense bu I can live with that as it works...kinda...
second question : as it seems I cannot upload to forum, I'll try to reformulate :
Say I have 10 points forming a shape, is there any way I can select 5 of thoses and make them 1 ?
(its called JOIN SELECTED NODES in inkscape)
deleting points doesn't do it for me, joining them creates a single point in the averaged middle of the 5 selected ones.
don't know about version 11 but later versions have a toggle on the infobar that lets you switch brush control between fixed and screen pixel sizes for that tool
i think i know what you mean re nodes - simplify the node structure without changing the curve right ?
i don't know of a way in xara, maybe an expert will..

Nothing lasts forever...
select the nodes and increase the smoothing slider to suit. May not remove all nodes selected but should reduce them.
