Tutorial needed: making nav bars and buttons

Hi all. Rather than taking up a lot of space on TG with questions about making nav bars and buttons could someone point me to some clear tutorials. I've been over the manual a number of times - but I'm just not getting the various bsic steps that are needed. I'd like to make my own - but of course can use some from the content catalogue.

I personally wouldn't touch this site as it is far from complete, which shows a lack of something. I'm sorry but the site "tutorial" was not inspiring and wrong: no Link added to the button...
