    hi xarapeople,

1st thanx for the small fixes in xara 1.0a

2nd i found a bug that i talked earlier about but got no answer :b

attached is a bitmap that shows the same picture top: 24bit tif with grey alpha tif attached in x
middle: 32bit tif with alpha included
bottom: same as top but on a flat blue rectangle

conclusion: there seems to be a calculation bug on tif export. notice the shift (2 pixel right & up) on the 1st bitmap.

so why donĀ“t i just shut up and use the 32bit tif with included alpha?

    because itĀ“s less flexible...

    help

    thanx

Actually, I had a go but couldn't reproduce your results.

Please explain how you created the image and alpha.

    Hello

It has possibly something to do with antialiasing.
In the PNG export dialogue there is a option to use screen or another antialiasing.
The second option does change the position of objects to improve exports.

Read the help in the dialogue. It might be an
explanation. I have noticed slight shifts.

oops didnĀ“t want to disturb... sean
    thanx for the answer
iĀ“m going to attach a new picture to explain the errors.
btw. exporting the attached picture as png worked fine serveral times and finally exproting it as jpg caused a fatal error in xara (1.0a)

what you see in the attached picture is the result of three exports of the same picture with slight background changings. on screen in the xara document everything is fine. no visible errors...

    mike,
i tried some time with the png export options and sometimes it seemed to work but switching to a diffent output size resulted in different output errors (misalignments of the alpha map.

    FlySolo,

there is a bug in the TIF export, I already posted several messages but did not get an answer. Not only with alpha channel, all TIF exports produce artefacts, leave parts of objects or mess up the output file.

I did it with simple shapes and text, adding a bevel, and it drove me crazy. However, when I exported the same objects as a PNG, everything was excellent.

Maybe we should be patient and wait for a silent bug fix.

    ciao,
    jens

I, too, have had strange and serious TIF exports like yours, pertaining to bevels. Xara have asked me to send them info and files, but I haven't been able to reproduce it - maybe you should just email them your files?
