Pixels are a fixed unit. The smaller they are, the less visible they are.

When you enlarge an image, the pixels enlarge as well.

The display softens the pixels by anti-aliasing the image and this is what makes it look soft.

There is some software available that can enlarge an image and maintain some but not all of the sharpness.

One thing you can try is create a bitmap copy at a very high resolution, say 2400dpi. And then see if this enlarges any better.
