It highlights how countries/states are using the web to spread false information. I suspect every country/state is at it too.

An excellent (and chilling) follow up to this is Terry Gross' interview with Christopher Whylie, the Cambridge Analytica whistle blower. I think you can either listen to the podcast here https://www.npr.org/2019/10/08/76828...istopher-wylie or download the podcast. Terry Gross is a US interviewer, part of NPR, and has been doing this for about 40 years. Whylie has a new book out and is doing the book review rounds. (comments removed by member)

Not a phrase you'll hear in the UK, regardless of whether you are in favour or not!

For balance, ought you translate this into all the EU official languages?

it is ancient greek, well biblical anyway...

disinformation and other forms of propaganda have been around for ever, just as have people who will believe anything they read/hear/see

what is different now is that it can be leveraged in such a powerful way on platforms that many rely on for other perfectly legitimate reasons

it is down to the platforms, but it seems to me they view this sort of thing, as well as actual abuse up to a point, as colateral damage in the persuit of ideological 'freedom' and of course $$$
